No, not the London Metro tube. But just a simple hollow tube! It’s a way of saying, ‘Try thinking inside the box’! Yes, sometimes we should attempt trying to think inside the box. It is the technique of applying constraints to think and innovate. The only difference here is that for this activity we are going to try to see what all we can do with a tube.
For this activity, you will need:
- A sheet of paper or notebook
- Pen or pencil
- A timer or stopwatch
Set the timer to two minutes. And start writing down all the applications you can think of for a tube.
On time up, have a look at what you have got. Now start circling, numbering, or marking similar types of applications you listed. The goal is to see how many diverse sets of applications you can think of. More the number of clusters or groups you have, more you have leveled up your creative thinking!
This time I won’t be adding the examples here. Once you have attempted the activity, you can checkout the solutions here. And try to attempt the activity again. But this time, do it for a cone.
